Nuttallburg Coal Tipple, WV
This idle coal mine was once a thriving mine deep in the New River Gorge. The smokeless coal produced at this mine fed Henry Ford's steel plants in Detroit, and other steel plants around the country. It operated from 1873 - 1958.
This picture won First Place in the National Park Service - 2018 Hidden History Photography Contest - Historic Structure B/W Category.
